2023 REPORT LAUNCH

JUSTICE FOR AFRICA'S CHILDREN
Exploited and excluded for generations, African states are now facing new injustices and an incredible struggle to deliver children’s basic rights. Shamefully, many of these injustices have escalated since the agreement of the Sustainable Development Goals at the end of 2015. The world has so far ignored the scale and severity of this crisis - and millions of Africa’s children are bearing the heavy cost of this systemic discrimination.
The continued rise in global wealth and the many pre-COVID gains in children’s rights in the rest of the world have hidden a harsh reality in plain sight: child labour, malnutrition, and children out of school have all increased across Africa.
The 2023 report from Laureates and Leaders for Children and 100 Million, Justice for Africa’s Children, exposes the massive injustices created and perpetuated by discrimination, which are disproportionately harming the world’s most vulnerable children. Spanning tax, debt, climate, international agreements, displacement, aid, conflict, governance, participation, and girls’ rights, Justice For Africa’s Children explores the scale of the injustice to children, and calls for immediate action to create a foundation for justice in Africa and targeted interventions for a fairer future for Africa’s children.
Laureates and Leaders for Children and 100 Million hosted a virtual launch of this critical report on 25 January 2023.
